James Kemsley OAM

CARTOONIST James Kemsley's Order of Australia Medal is an honour coloured with sadness for his wife and three sons.
The pen behind larrikin redhead Ginger Meggs for 14 years until his death last December from motor neurone disease, Kemsley was credited with reviving the Australian classic for modern readers.
The fourth artist to draw Ginger Meggs since the comic's creation in 1921, Kemsley transported the character to readers of 120 publications in 30 countries.
Kemsley has been awarded a posthumous medal in the general division, not only for his cartoons but also for his role as a local councillor and for his other passion, the Bradman Foundation.
